Jim's ACL Journal

Introduction
My name is Jim Eisenmann, in September of 1997, while playing volleyball, I tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in my left knee. At the time I was a third year grad student at the University of Wisconsin. This is a journal of my experiences with that injury, as well as my ACL reconstructive surgery and rehabiliation.

I wasn't doing any coursework that semester so that I could focus on researching my thesis. I decided to take an introductory class in volleyball, so that I could get a little exercise, and generally not be as lethargic as I had been during the previous couple years.

All of the entries in this journal through November 13th, were written in the two days after my surgery.

Please Note: The information provided here is based solely on my experiences and opinions. Everyone else's experiences will be different. Orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists have different opinions on timelines and regimens for rehabilitation, therefore my experiences with surgery and rehab may be significantly different from your experiences.

Warning: If you suffer a knee, or any other, injury please seek medical care immediately. Please be aware that I am not a medical professional, and if you email me seeking medical advice or opinions, I will not respond.

"But they that have faith in the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall soar on wings like eagles; they shall run and not grow weary;
they shall walk and not be faint."
~ Isaiah 40:31
